Marije Lytske Hester
I am a maker, researcher and designer.
I’ve separated my work & projects into two areas:
As a graphic artist, I go back to what I love to do: create! My work is archived in Atelier.
Additionally, I actively seek collaboration and conversation with people and companies: we set up and work on projects that zoom in on social issues, aspire to question the status quo and embody a better tomorrow for people and planet. I personally have a specific love for ‘mapping’ as a tool to visualise situations, processes or relationships in the search for solutions to complex problems. The projects can be solely research or design-oriented, or a combination of the two in the form of practice-driven research projects, innovation projects and case studies.
Organisational : concept/program development; identity and strategy development; project management
Design; creative and art direction; system design; social design; workshops; surface design; textile design + product development
Research; textile innovation consultancy; qual & quant research (e.g. Fast track LCA’s); writing articles and reports; lectures
I work mostly in the social and cultural sector (with NGO’s and foundations) and in the Fashion and Textiles Industry. However, I am always up to discover new grounds and work transdisciplinary.
Vision: discovering Post Capitalist Design
Mission: Democratise design processes, explore localised production, share knowledge and inspire
Core values: Collaboration, Play, Empathy, Responsibility and Accountability
